Intro
JLL is a leading global professional services firm that specializes in real estate and investment management. They help buy, build, occupy and invest in a variety of assets including industrial, commercial, retail, residential and hotel real estate. From tech startups to global firms, JLL's clients span industries including banking, energy, healthcare, law, life sciences, manufacturing, and technology.
I provided marketing services for a subdivision of JLL called Project and Development Services (PDS), which specializes in project and development management services for new construction and redevelopment initiatives from inception to close-out. Some of the notable projects I worked on during my time there included the Ritz Carlton Chicago, Obama Presidential Library, and Chatham Park.
Services
I was responsible for designing digital and print materials for prospective clients requesting JLL’s services, along with any other necessary graphics or visuals for existing clients. I worked closely with the Business Development and Marketing departments to come up with the copywriting for pitches, proposals and client presentations. Over the course of 3 years, I helped secure over $1.5 Million of revenue through won proposals.

Ritz Carlton (Award Submission)
Description
The Ritz Carlton Chicago was a 369,000 SF renovation project that consisted of a two-year transformation across 80,000 SF of public space and 485 keys. The scope of the project included: new lobby, bar, cafe, restaurant, ballrooms, meeting rooms, structural modifications, guest room suites (plus eight luxury apartments) renovation, corridors, club lounge, spa, fitness center and pool, along with mechanical central plant upgrades that needed to meet Marriott’s life safety requirements. Upon the project's completion, we submitted it to the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) awards program under the category: Best Commercial/Sports/Entertainment/Hospitality Project with a Construction Value Less Than $50 Million.
Only 13 projects around the country were selected that year, and we ended up being one of those 13 to receive this prestigious honor. Our project team was flown out to Las Vegas to attend the award ceremony.
Role
I designed and co-wrote the submission for the 2018 CMAA Project Achievement Award, which ended up winning both Regional and National titles for Best Commercial/Sports/Entertainment/Hospitality Project with a Construction Value Less Than $50 Million.
FAIA (Award Submission)
Description
AIA Fellows are recognized within the American Institute of Architects (AIA) as the highest membership honor for their exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society. Architects who have made significant contributions to the profession and society and who exemplify architectural excellence can apply to join the AIA College of Fellows (FAIA). Only 3% of AIA members have this distinction. My boss was one of 115 architects nationally selected for Fellowship status and was the only architect chosen from the state of Illinois in the year 2019.
Role
I developed, drafted and designed the submission for my boss, who wanted to submit himself for Fellowship with the AIA. Based on his projects and experience in the architecture and real estate industry, I devised the concept for his overall thesis statement, wrote numerous drafts, edited and proofread the entire document, and worked to create an interactive PDF submission for the 2019 round of applicants. This was a 7+ week assignment that I worked on almost full-time.
Chatham Park (Floor Plan Brochure)
Description
Chatham Park is a mixed-use retail/housing complex in Indianapolis, IN, consisting of 125,000 SF Residential, 2,500 SF Retail, with a $30 Million Budget. The ground-up development is in a historic neighborhood and consists of single and multi-family housing, along with condo units that sit above a floor of retail.
Although they were working with a small marketing agency to design their website and provide other creative services, the client wanted to find an alternative method for creating these floor plans and marketing brochures in order to save at least $10k.
Role
I converted architectural models of 23 condo units into simplified floor plans using Adobe Illustrator and created a brochure on InDesign for our client to use as a marketing tool. I also provided consulting services in regards to their branding and helped them select more apt typography based on discussions about their vision and target demographic.
Vital Proteins (Proposal)
Description
JLL bid on this project for Vital Proteins to provide project management services for their move to a new office location.
During the interview, the client told the JLL team that they were impressed by the thoughtful touches in the proposal that were personalized and targeted specifically for their company. Not only did it showcase the JLL brand, it also contained elements of the Vital Proteins brand, which they felt was lacking in competing bidders’ proposals. JLL was ultimately selected for this project.
Role
I designed this proposal and was responsible for laying out all the content. I also assisted in writing the content, excluding the fee section.
Gulfstream (Proposal)
Description
Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation designs, develops, manufactures, markets, services and supports the world’s most technologically-advanced business jets.
JLL submitted a proposal for project management services for their MRO expansion project at Appleton International Airport in Appleton, WI. After completing two interviews, JLL was selected for the project.
Role
I designed this proposal and was responsible for laying out all the content. I also assisted in writing the content, excluding the fee section.
